Stepping Stones University is a kindergarten preparatory academy that specializes in preparing early learners from 2-5 years for primary education after preschool level. Stepping Stones University derives from the “Education Imitative” (Miller 2000) concept.  We believe that early exposure empowers productive and lifelong learning thus, providing our preschool students with a head start on their academic success. Stepping Stones University guides early learners using the holistic approach of progressive education that insists that, “education should be understood as the art of cultivating the moral, emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual dimensions of the developing child”(Miller, 2000). A “holistic” way of thinking seeks to encompass and integrate multiple layers of meaning and experience rather than defining human possibilities narrowly.

To provide high quality educational and overall wellness services that promote preparation for college and career readiness for all early learners and their families. This is accomplished through integrating Early Learning and Common Core State Standards into our daily regimen.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is project-based and is specifically aligned to the Common Core State Standards as well as the PA Early Learning Standards to ensure that each early learning excels in their academic careers. In addition, out lessons are integrated with S.T.E.A.M. Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math).

This curriculum has a proven success rate  since its development in 2012 from students who have went on to gifted programming in private and public school setting in locations as far as Oklahoma, including advanced placement in core subjects such as reading and math.

What We Do

Stepping Stones University’s unique concept to Early Childhood Education focuses on the holistic approach, with an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. This is accomplished through rigorously enhanced and developmentally appropriate curriculum that challenges the early learner and builds upon what they have previously acquired, providing an in-depth assessment 3 times a year through the Work Sampling System, along with a portfolio that highlights their progressive in a productive and positive way, while displaying each student’s creativity and uniqueness, in addition to academic achievements, S.T.E.A.M. curriculum that allows our students the opportunity to excel in the primary core academic areas.

The Discovery Zone

At this level, Early Learners are still working on the introduction of fine motor manipulation, in addition to color, shape, and number recognition. Early Learners participating in this group will focus on learning how to use science tools, explore science stations while making projects that express their creativity.

3-5 Year Old Classrooms

The Sponge Zone

At this level, Early Learners are continuing to work on their fine motor skills; however, retaining thought-provoking information is an area emphasis. In addition, Early Learners participating in this group will focus on the process of retaining information when preparing to apply their newly acquired knowledge.
